VOLUNTEERS MAKE IT HAPPEN

Help Socialize Animals or help around the place

Please consider giving some of your time to help save homeless animals. The animals in our care depend on volunteers to visit with them for training and socialization.  Your time helps them be more comfortable while waiting for permanent homes, and helps them better adapt to homes once a new family finds them.

QUALITY CARE ~ QUALITY PLACEMENT

We Need Your Help! Foster homes save lives. They are one of the most valuable assets a shelter can have. We are always in desperate need of them. It's very difficult for us to rescue without loving people who can open their homes and hearts to an animal in a shelter.

Orientation

Nearly every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. there is a formal training session/dog walk orientation for our volunteers. Learn from our volunteer trainers how we work with our dogs on good manners.  Contact us for more information   707-485-0123

Want to Volunteer?

HSIMC depends largely on many dedicated volunteers to keep the shelter running.  A few dedicated paid staff members are employed to ensure the kennels are cleaned and the cat litter is changed on schedule, and to direct the shelter.  Everything else, from fundraising, to working with the animals, to outreach, and grounds keeping, is done by generous volunteers.

Socialization

The cats love human attention and interaction, and enjoy grooming and brushing.  Kittens especially need socialization for transitioning from shelter animals to family pets.

The dogs benefit immensely from our training program in learning good behavior before going to permanent homes.  They also need social interaction to stay healthy and happy.

Volunteering to foster animals

Fostering means you get to help our animals in need, all in the comforts of your own home. You don't have to have fostering experience, we give you training, guidance and moral support! The length of time is up to you. Whether you can care for bottle babies, kittens, one dog or many, we would love to have you as a foster!
