Whether it be cleaning, grounds maintenance, construction, animal socialization, grooming, dog walking, fostering, transportation for veterinary runs or something else; volunteer opportunities are endless and we always have a need! The animals in our care depend on volunteers for socialization and training, time spent with them improves their lives while they wait for their forever home. Please consider giving some of your time to help the animals at HSIMC and ensure we can continue on our mission to save as many lives as possible.
We Need Your Help! Foster Homes Save Lives!
You are one of the most valuable assets a shelter can have.
We are always looking for volunteers to open up their homes and hearts and foster a shelter animal. Become a member of our dedicated foster team of volunteers and help HSIMC save more lives!

Fostering means you are helping animals in need, to give them the best possible outcome, all in the comfort of your own home.
No foster experience necessary, we give you the information, guidance and support you need.
Opportunities include bottle babies, kittens, puppies, adult dogs and cats as well as special needs animals.
We would love to have you on our foster team!
Our new Volunteer Program will consist of a General Orientation session, once the General Orientation is completed, additional volunteer opportunities will become available.
Additional opportunities will include the specialized Dog and Cat Orientations if you wish to work directly with the animals.

HSIMC depends largely on a dedicated group of volunteers to keep the shelter up and running. Volunteers help with essential daily activities and chores and our long time volunteers help conduct our dog walking orientation classes! We have a few dedicated staff onsite daily to work with the animals in our care and manage the shelter. Everything else: fundraising, outreach, maintenance and grounds keeping is all completed by our kindhearted volunteers. Consider signing up to volunteer and help us continue to save lives!
Cats love the attention and interaction they receive from our wonderful volunteers, many enjoy grooming and brushing.
Kittens and cats need socialization and extra snuggles to help them transition from shelter living to their forever home.
Every adoptable dog will benefits immensely from our training program, where we establish good behavior, manners and help the dogs prepare for their forever homes.
Daily public interaction also keeps the cats and dogs socialized, happy and healthy.
