Share your love of animals by rallying our community to support our lifesaving programs. Community kindness cards can be picked up in either our Front Office or Cattery Office along with our guidelines for distribution.
Organize a pet food drive in your neighborhood, at your school, or with a youth group. Our shelter runs on donations to support the animals in our care as well as community support when we have availability. We rescue both dogs and cats and can always use the following: dry food, wet food, toys, catnip, cat scratchers, leashes, beds, and other enrichment items. We find many students have a variety of artistic talents so we thought pet portraits would be a great way to help promote our animals while getting community hours for school.
Students are invited to draw our animals, we make a copy so students can keep their original art pieces. The copy goes into the animals adoption folder as well as the animals online adoption profile.
Our adopters love the artwork they receive!
Students can view the animals on our website or by visiting the shelter during open hours.
A parent or guardian must be in attendance for onsite visits if the student is under 16 years of age.
Open Hours:
Wed-Fri: 1pm-5pm
Sat-Sun: 11am-3pm
A volunteer will come to your classroom to educate students about Humane Society for Inland Mendocino County and how we help the people and pets in our community. Animal rescue is a challenging but rewarding career and we want to share our work with all of you and teach you how you can also help keep people and pets save in our communities.
For more information on a visit to your classroom, email our Board President, Teresa: teresa@hsimc.org
